The History of Schambereich
Schambereich is older than the imprint suggests. This page shows what actually survives from the early years, traceable through the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine and our own database.

2000
2000: The earliest traces
The earliest surviving capture of schambereich.de dates from 18 October 2000: a finished link directory with categories, a poll, contacts and chat, not a placeholder under construction. The site's own description at the time was simply "Erotik mit Niveau (Chat, Bilder, Stories und mehr...)" ("Erotica with class"). How much older the site was before that can no longer be reliably reconstructed from what survives.

2002
2002: Wordmark and namesake
Two original files survive from 2002: the "Schambereich.de" wordmark in its look at the time, and a quote card with a line from Jean-Paul Sartre about shame, the line that explained the name even then.

2003
2003: The oldest surviving pictures and stories
The oldest pictures and stories in today's database date from 11 October 2003, with new posts daily from that date on. User accounts only go back to July 2004, almost a year later, a sign that when the software changed, content kept its original date while the user table was rebuilt from scratch.

2008–2012
2008 to 2012: forum, chat and youth protection
The in-house forum already counted over 18,000 registered profiles by 2008. In the years after, a live chat and the youth-protection seal (JusProg) were added, the same seal still in the footer today.

Today
From link directory to platform
The hand-built link directory from 2000 has become a platform with its own picture, story and poll management, in its current design since 2026.
